The Indian Star Tortoise (Geochelone elegans) is a small, strikingly patterned tortoise native to the dry regions of India and Sri Lanka. Its name comes from the star-like radiating patterns on its domed shell. Known for their docile nature, these tortoises are a popular choice among reptile enthusiasts, though they require specific care to thrive in captivity. adult males can grow to 13–15 cm and adult females 18–30 cm. Indian Star Tortoises can live 35–50 years or more with proper care.
